• Question: Why are most of the words in Latin?

      A lot of scientific words have greek origins too – it’s probably because the Roman (Latin) and Greek cultures were the first to study and document their scientific and philosophical work, and we’ve kept most of their words out of tradition

      Well they are in European countries where are language evolved from Latin. But Asian countries have languages that are not from Latin origin.

      Good question…I wish I studied latin! It is mainly the names of species and it is mainly so there is one name no matter what country you are in and new species can be recorded under that name to reduce animals being registered as new species multible times in different languages.

      Hello! Well Latin is an ancient language which originated in ancient Rome – it is so old that most other words in the English language stem from it. But I think ancient Greek is slightly older than Latin.
