Because you use lots of energy? the more you think about or see food the hungrier you will be. if you stare in the window of a cake shop you will be hungrier then if you stare in the window of a clothes shop.
1) There is a hormone in the brain called Leptin that controls the hunger response – as you are still growing this hormone probably hasn’t quite balanced out yet. 2) you are using lots of energy being super clever, 3) you have a high metabolism which is likely in part genetic.
Foods that keep you fuller for longer are things with high fibre (bran flakes) high carbs (potatoes, pasta) and high protein (meats). The most important thing is a well balanced diet with lots of fruit and veg, plenty of water and not being afraid to snack if you are hungry.
Probably because your cells are dividing at an extraordinary rate as you grow, and each of those cells needs plenty of energy to firstly increase in size, and then to divide.
Interestingly, there is a medical disorder called Prader-Willi syndrome which people in my lab are studying, where people are constantly hungry and don’t get the correct brain signals which tell them when they’re full. If left to their own devices, Prader-Willi patients would eat and eat until they are morbidly obese, so many of them live in homes where their access to food is restricted
