Hello! Arthritis is caused by damage to the joints of the body – the joints become worn down. So in theory clicking or cracking the fingers could help cause arthritis but a person would probably have to click or crack over a very long time for this to happen.

I think the latest evidence is that it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. However, it may be related to lower grip strength. The cracking noise is due to dissolved gases being released from the fluid in your joints btw

People who are likely to develop artheritis often have more space between their joints where gas can build up. Moving this gas is what causes the cracking noise. Arteritis is mainly genetic but can also be caused by damage to a joint (eg. a bad break, wear and tear) and sometimes if you crack your fingers regularly it care wear dont the fluid betweek the joint and cause the bones to rub and damage each other but you would have to crack your fingers a lot.

I am not sure if they know whether that is true but it can’t be good for the joint to make it make those creepy noises and it sounds horrible 🙂
