      Hi 🙂
Every day I read something about the brain I didn’t already know and think wow, that is amazing. I don’t know many jobs where you can be learning something new everyday. I like reading about psychology and thinking about why people behave in different ways-like how the brains of bad people may be working!

      Hey Folks,
The thing I find most interesting about my work is the fact nobody else has done it before so when I do an experiment I have to predict (guess) what is going to happen. My guesses are usually wrong so I find it really interesting talking to other scientists who do similar things (such as my boss or other people in the same lab) about what could or might be happening and coming up with theories. I also like the fact that it will one day (hopefully) help people better understand obesity and weight loss and possibly help with new treatments.

I really enjoy the research interviewing people, getting questionnaires back and seeing the patterns in the data. I also enjoy facilitating workshops to help managers come up with and develop ideas for example. I am a lot less keen on the bureaucracy that sometimes goes with research and teaching, having to attend meetings and fill in forms I deem unnecessary. Of course most employers want to know what their staff are doing and have procedures. Academics often currently get something between 20 and 40% of their time for research, and more if they get eternal grants to buy out the rest of their time.

I particularly like being in the psychology lab and meeting the many different people who take part in my experiments. The most interesting thing about my work is that there is always something new to discover and something new to do, every day is never the same.
