• Question: what happens to the brain cells when the brain is damaged

      Hi, it depends on how the brain is damaged. If, for example, someone bangs their head really seriously, the brain cells in that area can die, and that means that that area of the brain can no longer do its job. Some parts of the brain have some redundancy-that is there is another part of the brain that can take over the job if they are damaged. Others don’t and once that bit of the brain is gone, the function of that area is lost. Scary really!
