Hi Steven, that is a really good question. There are so many things we still need to find out about our world! For me personally, I enjoy working on a subject that is medically related and linked in some way to finding new treatments for disease. However, all areas of research are important and I’d never want to say other science that is not linked to medicine isn’t as important as it really is.

I am sorry I dont fully understand your question. If you are asking if I think biology/Chemistry or physics is more important, they all have their strenghts but I am definately biased towards biology.

Given the state of the planet I’d say first ways to save the planet and ways to encourage people make the changes this will entail.
Second ways of evening out the discrepancies in life’s lottery so the poor do not have to suffer as much.
Third ways dealing with increasing resistance to anitibiotics so we are less likely to be devasted by incurable diseases in the future.
Technologically we seem to be doing quite well but we have a lot further to go understand people.

Hello, this is a difficult question to answer because every area of science has important applications. My husband is a physicist and his team recently designed a type of laser that works to remove cancer cells without the need for any invasive treatment! But is this more important than developing a way to repair the damaged brain – perhaps in a person who has had a stroke or suffered from traumatic brain injury – a person who can no longer communicate with anyone else? It’s a tough question and I think that my answer would have to be that all science is important but for different reasons.
      🙂
