It is cool most of the time. I still have days I’d rather stay home from time to time but who doesn’t?! I get to travel to meetings all over the world and talk to loads of really interesting people everyday so I am pretty lucky!

      Hello all,
Thanks for the question. Definately cool. What could be cooler then wandering around in a lab coat and safety goggles! 🙂 Its not all fun and games there are write ups to do and maths calculations (statistics) but there is always something to do. Overall interesting, challenging and of course cool!

I think its pretty cool being a scientist, studying and finding out about new things. But it often takes scientists many years to find and check the evidence to support an initial hunch so science takes a lot of methodicalness as well as some inspiration. The boring bit for me is not the science but the admin surrounding it, filling in lots of forms for the university when applying for grants for example.

Honestly, I have to say that being a scientist is always really cool! I think I might be a bit of a geek but I’m never bored because there is always something different to do and always something new to find out. I stay motivated in many different ways – from discussing new ideas with colleagues to browsing recently published research online or reading the day’s scientific news on various websites.
