• Question: ive often heard the phrase, \"brain food\" but i was wondering if food actually mentally stimulates you or if the term was just to get people to eat when they were to absorbed in thier work to think about food? and if it does mentally stimulate you what is the best food to eat?

Hello again! Lots of people – scientists included – think that certain types of food can improve your senses and stimulate the brain. For example, fish and nuts contain essential oils and acids that are thought to improve memory by helping insulate cells in the brain (the insulation protects them).

I personally think that if it works for you then stick with it! I guess it’s a process of trial and error. There are still so many things that scientists do not know about the human brain and body – maybe in the future we will know a lot more about this.

Hello Jonnydude! Your brain uses a LOT of energy and so you need to eat healthily so you have energy. Some foods are called brain foods as they contain antioxidants and other things that are thought to be good for brain function. Things with lots of artificial colours and make you hyper can stop you from concentrating in my experience. Red berries, oily fish and vegetables should keep you healthy!
