There are some treatments now but I don’t know if they are scientifically proven to work. If there is something causing the hairloss then sometimes it is stress related and getting rid of the stress with treatment or talking to someone can help though. Anyone who had a problem with hairloss should see a doc for advice.

Hello! Like most things hair thickness is thought to be genetic but some scientists think that low amounts of iron in the blood can sometimes cause hair thinning – iron carries oxygen around the body. Stress can also cause hair thinning but scientists don’t really know why. Until scientists fully understand why hair thinning happens I don’t think there can be a real cure.

Wigs are always an option 😛
It depends what is causing the hair loss if it is stress or drug related (eg chemotherapy) then your hair will grow back when the stress hormones/drugs leave your system. Its its men who are 25+ then its likely to be genetic and there are lots of treatments available although I am unsre if any actually work. While the top of your head may be more prone to sunburn and you might be a bit self concious at first its usually not a big deal.

For some people there is a product, I think its called Regain, that helps some but not all people with thinning hair. Others resort to transplanting some of their hair to the thinning, bald bits to fill the patches, like Elton John. I used to work in a hairdressers as a saturday job when young, a lot of the women with thinning hair wore partial wigs.

thinning hair is generally caused by excess testosterone, or an lack of the receptor for testosterone (androgen receptor). there are no effective drug treatments at the moment, and the best option is probably having artificial (or real) hair implanted into the scalp – some celebrities have had this done including the cricketer Shane Warne and the rugby player Austin Healy
