Hello! Peristalsis means that muscles in the human body contract (move) in a symmetrical way – so a muscle ‘ripples’ in the same way on the left and right side. Think of the way a worm moves with movement starting at one end of the body and rippling down to the other end. The digestive system in the human body uses this type of movement to push food into the stomach and from the stomach into the digestive tract.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by ‘interception’ – if you are talking about interception during football or rugby let me know and I’ll explain how it’s related!
I’m not sure what interceception is but peristalsis is the contraction of a tube of smooth muscle. It happens in your digestive system as food you’ve chewed then moves along-the smooth muscles contract behind the food pushing it along.
I think intussusception is the intended condition here. It’s when a piece of bowel telescopes in on itself causing lots of pain and possibly serious consequences. Mainly kids get it and it usually happens for no apparent reason. In adults I think there’s more likely to be some kind of lesion as the cause of it (like a tumour for instance).
I don’t think there’s a consensus on how this occurs but I bet peristaltic contractions of the bowel make it much sorer. Often happens that way with bowel problems and makes the pain intermittent….
