I think there are lots of important jobs. Research is important but so are builders, electricians, shop keepers, firemen, teachers…
The important thing is to find a job you like and do you best at it and to be happy.

All research is useful in its own way-everything contributes to our knowledge of the world in some way. I am happier to be working in research that is directly related to medicine but that is personal preference.

Hello! I think that it’s important for people to research a whole range of things – from physics and biology to art and history. But I also think it’s important for people to learn how to do other things like plumbing, engineering and construction. People having different skills is what makes the world go around!

No we need dustbin men and nurses etc too. but I do think research on people is important. We are much more developed technologically than socially. If we were wiser people I do not think the planet or the economic system on the poverty in the world would be such a mess. Research in psychology may help.

Yes. When you apply for money to fund your research, you have to state what benefit your work will have for humanity (better medical care, cheaper/more efficient way of doing things, etc.), so in theory, all research done in the UK should have some benefits in one form or another
