Hey! No not at all – I wear glasses in the lab and I wear a lab coat but I always have fun with my friends in work and I’m never bored! Also, I don’t really think it matters what other people think about you – as long as you are happy with yourself that’s all that counts.

No, not at all. Most scientists are really interesting people who lead very full lives. If we meet at conferences we really enjoy sharing ideas but also go out for dinner, laugh, walk in the mountains dance whatever. Possibly we do work quite hard, several of us are doing this (answering your questions) whilst on holiday I imagine a lot of other people might not be prepared to, but then I’m looking at the sand and sea as I write.

No I am not offended. I do wear a lab coat and glasses but only whem I am in the lab. I dont go shopping or walk down the street in them! 🙂 As for boring people would only think that if they didn’t know me. I am always up to something as it is important to get away from work sometimes, I have just joined the red cross so will hopefully be doing first aid at concerts and football matchs soon, I do martial arts and have lots of good friends to do random stuff with and keep me busy. I love my job and dont find it at all boring. Plus if other people don’t find the subject interesting it doesn’t mean all scientists are boring people. Actually most scientists I know are very active busy people who would probably like to be a bit more boring at times.

Not really, but I make sure I wear make up and nice clothes and shoes to the lab everyday in rebellion! Science attracts really interesting people-lots of different characters-and that is what you need in an environment where the more ideas there are the better!

Not offended, I find it quite funny (and sometimes quite true). Although the five of us look pretty normal…
